Stability Test
The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.
-
Storage & Shelf Life
Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Shipping
In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description
SLC18A2, also known as the vesicular monoamine transporter 2 (VMAT2), plays a crucial role in the packaging of neurotransmitters, such as dopamine, norepinephrine, serotonin, and histamine, into vesicles for storage and release in neurons. Its function is essential for maintaining neurotransmitter homeostasis and facilitating synaptic transmission. Abnormalities in SLC18A2 expression or function have been implicated in various neuropsychiatric disorders, including Parkinson's disease, schizophrenia, and mood disorders. Research into SLC18A2 recombinant proteins has gained traction as scientists seek to elucidate the mechanisms of neurotransmitter transport and the transporter’s role in neurological health. The ability to produce and study SLC18A2 as a recombinant protein allows for detailed analysis of its structural and functional properties, as well as its interactions with pharmacological agents. Utilizing techniques such as site-directed mutagenesis and high-resolution crystallography, researchers aim to identify key amino acids that influence the transport process and to develop potential therapeutic compounds that can modulate SLC18A2 activity. Understanding the biochemical pathways involving SLC18A2 provides valuable insights into the underlying pathophysiology of related disorders, paving the way for novel treatment strategies that could ameliorate symptoms and improve quality of life for affected individuals. As ongoing studies refine our comprehension of SLC18A2's function, they contribute to a broader understanding of the role of vesicular transporters in brain function and drug development.
