  • Stability Test

The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

  • Storage & Shelf Life

Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

  • Shipping

In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description

POT1 (Protection of Telomeres 1) is a crucial protein that plays a significant role in maintaining telomere integrity, thus safeguarding chromosome ends from degradation and preventing inappropriate DNA damage responses. Research into POT1 has been driven by its critical involvement in telomere biology, which is essential for cellular aging, cancer progression, and genomic stability. In eukaryotic cells, telomeres, repetitive nucleotide sequences at chromosomal ends, gradually shorten with each cell division, leading to cellular senescence or apoptosis. POT1 is part of the shelterin complex, a group of proteins that specifically binds to telomeres, protecting them and regulating their length. Mutations or dysregulation of POT1 have been associated with various tumors, particularly in hematological malignancies, highlighting its potential as a therapeutic target. Studies on POT1 recombinant protein are pivotal in understanding its structure-function relationships, as well as its interactions with other shelterin components and telomeric DNA. Investigating POT1 through recombinant protein technologies facilitates the elucidation of its biochemical properties and its role in telomere protection, offering insights into potential interventions for age-related diseases and cancer treatment strategies. The recombinant protein research enables the development of assays to test small molecules that could modulate POT1 activity, making it a promising area for future therapeutic advancements.
