  • Stability Test

The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

  • Storage & Shelf Life

Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

  • Shipping

In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description

SLC20A2, a member of the solute carrier family, encodes a sodium-dependent phosphate transporter primarily expressed in the brain and other tissues. This transporter plays a crucial role in phosphate homeostasis, which is essential for numerous biological processes, including energy metabolism, cell signaling, and bone mineralization. Mutations in the SLC20A2 gene have been linked to various pathological conditions, most notably familial idiopathic basal ganglia calcification (FIBGC), a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by abnormal calcium and phosphate accumulation in the basal ganglia. Understanding the structure and function of SLC20A2 is vital for elucidating its role in these diseases. Researchers have pursued the production of recombinant SLC20A2 protein to investigate its functional properties, transport mechanisms, and interactions with other cellular components. Through techniques like X-ray crystallography and electrophysiological assays, studies aim to dissect the transporter’s substrate specificity and regulatory mechanisms, providing insights that could inform therapeutic strategies for conditions stemming from phosphate dysregulation. Overall, the study of SLC20A2 and its recombinant protein is essential for advancing our knowledge of phosphate transport in health and disease.
