  • Stability Test

The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

  • Storage & Shelf Life

Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

  • Shipping

In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description

EFHC2, or "Essential For Hearing Cochlea 2," is a gene that encodes a protein critical for inner ear development and function. Mutations in the EFHC2 gene have been linked to hearing loss, particularly in cases of autosomal dominant non-syndromic hearing impairment. Research on the EFHC2 protein focuses on its role in the development of cochlear structures, as well as its involvement in the auditory signal transduction pathway. The protein is thought to play a crucial role in the maintenance of cellular structures, particularly in hair cells of the cochlea, which are essential for converting sound vibrations into neural signals. Additionally, the study of EFHC2 has implications for understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying hearing loss and could potentially lead to the identification of therapeutic targets for genetic forms of hearing impairment. Efforts to understand its structure, function, and interactions with other cellular components are ongoing, with the aim of unraveling the pathways that lead to auditory deficits. Understanding the role of EFHC2 in the auditory system not only enhances our knowledge of auditory biology but also opens avenues for innovative strategies in gene therapy and regenerative medicine to combat hearing loss. As research advancements continue, EFHC2 may provide critical insight into developing potential interventions for individuals affected by hereditary hearing impairments.
