Stability Test
The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.
-
Storage & Shelf Life
Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Shipping
In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description
CYP46A1, or cytochrome P450 46A1, is a crucial enzyme primarily involved in the metabolism of cholesterol in the brain, where it catalyzes the conversion of cholesterol to 24S-hydroxycholesterol. This metabolic pathway plays a significant role in maintaining cholesterol homeostasis and influences various neurological functions and processes, including neuroprotection and synaptic plasticity. Dysregulation of CYP46A1 has been implicated in a variety of neurodegenerative disorders, such as Alzheimer's disease, where altered cholesterol metabolism contributes to the pathophysiology. Research on recombinant CYP46A1 allows for detailed studies on its enzymatic function, structure, and interactions with substrates and inhibitors. By producing this protein in a recombinant form, scientists can explore its biochemical characteristics and potential as a therapeutic target, aiming to restore cholesterol balance in the brain and mitigate the effects of neurodegenerative diseases. Moreover, understanding CYP46A1's role can provide insights into the broader implications of cholesterol metabolism in cognitive functions and neurological health, thereby paving the way for novel interventions in treating or preventing related disorders. This ongoing research highlights the enzyme's significance not just for basic neuroscience but also for developing strategies to combat cognitive decline and enhance brain resilience.
