Stability Test
The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.
-
Storage & Shelf Life
Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Shipping
In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description
The KCNMA1 gene encodes the alpha subunit of the large-conductance calcium-activated potassium (BK) channel, which plays a crucial role in various physiological processes including smooth muscle contraction, neuronal signaling, and cardiovascular function. The BK channel is unique in its dual sensitivity to both voltage and intracellular calcium levels, making it vital for maintaining cellular excitability and homeostasis. Dysfunction or dysregulation of KCNMA1 has been implicated in several pathologies, including hypertension, epilepsy, and certain neurodegenerative diseases. Given its significance, the recombinant expression of KCNMA1 protein is essential for advancing our understanding of channel biophysics, pharmacology, and potential therapeutic targets. Researchers aim to characterize the structure and function of the BK channel by generating recombinant KCNMA1 proteins in various expression systems. This enables detailed studies of the channel's gating mechanisms, its interactions with ancillary proteins, and the effects of various pharmacological agents. Furthermore, the available recombinant KCNMA1 protein can be utilized in high-throughput screening for novel drug candidates and in the development of gene therapy approaches for associated diseases. Overall, the study of KCNMA1 recombinant protein is a promising area of research that bridges basic science and clinical applications, shedding light on its roles in health and disease.
