Stability Test
The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.
-
Storage & Shelf Life
Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
-
Shipping
In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description
MECR (Mitochondrial Elongation of Very Long Chain fatty acids Reductase) is an essential enzyme located in the mitochondria, playing a pivotal role in fatty acid metabolism, particularly in the elongation of very long-chain fatty acids (VLCFAs). VLCFAs are crucial for the formation of bioactive lipids, which are involved in various cellular processes, including membrane structure, energy storage, and signaling pathways. Aberrant MECR activity has been linked to several metabolic disorders, emphasizing its importance in human health. The study of MECR recombinant proteins helps elucidate the enzyme's structural and functional characteristics. Through the recombinant expression of MECR, researchers are able to investigate its enzymatic properties, substrate specificity, and interaction with other mitochondrial components. Understanding MECR's role at a molecular level may reveal new therapeutic targets for diseases associated with lipid metabolism, such as neurological disorders, heart diseases, and certain types of cancer, where lipid dysregulation plays a significant role. Consequently, the production and characterization of MECR recombinant proteins are critical for advancing both fundamental and applied research in lipid biochemistry and metabolic health.
