  • Stability Test

The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

  • Storage & Shelf Life

Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

  • Shipping

In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description

PYGM (glycogen phosphorylase, muscle form) is a crucial enzyme involved in glycogen metabolism, primarily facilitating the breakdown of glycogen into glucose-1-phosphate, which is vital for energy production during muscle contraction. Research into PYGM has gained significant attention due to its association with glycogen storage diseases, particularly Pompe disease and McArdle disease, which can lead to severe muscle weakness and exercise intolerance. These conditions arise from mutations in the PYGM gene, resulting in enzyme deficiencies. Understanding the structure and function of PYGM through recombinant protein studies is essential for elucidating its role in metabolism and developing targeted therapies. Advances in recombinant DNA technology have enabled the expression of functional PYGM in model systems, allowing researchers to investigate the enzyme's kinetics, regulatory mechanisms, and interaction with various substrates and inhibitors. This research not only enhances our comprehension of glycogen metabolism but also paves the way for potential interventions in metabolic disorders linked to PYGM dysfunction. Furthermore, insights gained from PYGM studies could inform the design of innovative treatments, including gene therapy and enzyme replacement strategies, for affected individuals, thereby contributing to improved patient outcomes and quality of life.
