  • Stability Test

The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

  • Storage & Shelf Life

Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

  • Shipping

In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description

UMOD, or uromodulin, is a glycoprotein primarily produced by renal tubular epithelial cells and secreted into the urine. It plays a critical role in kidney function, influencing urinary concentration, electrolyte balance, and potentially contributing to innate immunity. The significance of UMOD has gained attention due to its association with various kidney diseases, including chronic kidney disease (CKD) and hypertension. Genetic studies have identified specific UMOD gene variants that correlate with altered protein levels and increased susceptibility to kidney disorders. Given its pivotal role in renal physiology and pathology, researchers are focusing on recombinant UMOD proteins to explore their therapeutic potential. The production of UMOD in a recombinant form allows for detailed investigations of its structure-function relationships and the mechanisms through which it exerts its effects. Additionally, recombinant UMOD could serve as a valuable tool for studying kidney diseases in preclinical models and may eventually lead to novel therapeutic strategies aimed at modulating its function to benefit patients with kidney-related ailments. The ongoing research on UMOD not only enhances our understanding of kidney biology but also opens avenues for innovative treatments, highlighting its importance in both basic and applied biomedical research.
