Stability Test
The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.
-
Storage & Shelf Life
Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Shipping
In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description
SMG8 (Suppressor with Morphogenetic effect on genitalia 8) is a vital component of the nonsense-mediated mRNA decay (NMD) pathway, which is crucial for maintaining mRNA surveillance and quality control in eukaryotic cells. This protein, part of a larger complex that includes SMG1, SMG5, SMG6, and SMG7, plays a significant role in recognizing and degrading mRNAs that contain premature stop codons, thereby preventing the production of truncated and potentially harmful proteins. Research into SMG8 and its reconstituted protein interactions has gained momentum due to its implications in various biological processes and disease states, including cancer and genetic disorders associated with dysregulated mRNA metabolism. The study of SMG8's structure and function, particularly through the development of recombinant forms of the protein, is essential for elucidating its role in NMD and understanding its interactions with other proteins in the decay machinery. Advances in techniques such as X-ray crystallography and cryo-electron microscopy have facilitated detailed investigations into SMG8's molecular dynamics and its contributions to cellular responses to stress and developmental cues. Thus, examining the reconstituted SMG8 protein not only enhances our comprehension of mRNA surveillance mechanisms but may also provide insights into therapeutic strategies for conditions arising from NMD pathway dysfunction.
