Stability Test
The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.
-
Storage & Shelf Life
Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Shipping
In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description
SMG5 (Suppressor with Morphological effect on Genitals 5) is a crucial component of the nonsense-mediated mRNA decay (NMD) pathway, which plays a pivotal role in maintaining mRNA quality control in eukaryotic cells. NMD is a cellular mechanism that selectively degrades mRNAs containing premature stop codons, thus preventing the synthesis of truncated and potentially harmful proteins. The study of SMG5 is particularly relevant due to its implications in various biological processes, including gene regulation, cellular stress responses, and developmental processes. Notably, dysregulation of the NMD pathway, including alterations in SMG5 expression, has been linked to several diseases, such as cancer and neurodegenerative disorders. As researchers aim to uncover the intricate mechanisms of NMD, the recombinant protein SMG5 has become a focal point for investigations. Generating and characterizing SMG5 in its recombinant form allows for detailed functional studies and structure-function analyses, which are essential for understanding its role in the NMD pathway and its interactions with other nucleocytoplasmic proteins. Additionally, these studies pave the way for potential therapeutic approaches targeting the NMD pathway, offering insights into how modulating SMG5 activity might influence disease outcomes. Overall, research on recombinant SMG5 not only enhances our understanding of mRNA surveillance mechanisms but also has significant implications for developing novel interventions in diseases associated with NMD pathway dysfunctions.
