  • Stability Test

The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

  • Storage & Shelf Life

Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

  • Shipping

In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description

The ORF1a protein, derived from the open reading frame 1a of coronaviruses, plays a crucial role in the viral life cycle, particularly in the replication and transcription processes. As the first segment of the viral genome, ORF1a encodes several non-structural proteins (nsps), which are essential for the formation of the replication-transcription complex (RTC) and inhibit host immune responses. The study of ORF1a has gained significant attention due to its implications in understanding coronavirus pathogenesis and its potential as a target for therapeutic interventions and vaccine development. The ongoing research is particularly relevant in the context of emerging viral variants and the global response to pandemics, including the COVID-19 outbreak caused by SARS-CoV-2. Recent studies have focused on characterizing the biochemical properties of ORF1a, including its interactions with host cell factors and its enzymatic activities, aiming to unravel the intricate molecular mechanisms that facilitate viral replication and immune evasion. Furthermore, the exploration of ORF1a-derived proteins as potential biomarkers or targets for drug development underscores the importance of this area of research in addressing public health challenges posed by coronaviruses. As new variants continue to emerge, understanding the role of ORF1a in viral fitness and pathogenicity is essential for devising effective strategies to combat coronavirus infections.
