Stability Test
The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.
-
Storage & Shelf Life
Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
-
Shipping
In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description
The BEST2 protein, part of the bestrophin family, is a chloride channel primarily expressed in the retinal pigment epithelium and plays a crucial role in facilitating ion transport across cellular membranes. Research into BEST2 is significant due to its implications in various retinal diseases, including Best disease, which is caused by mutations in the BEST1 gene that encodes the bestrophin-1 protein, leading to vision impairment. The identification and functional characterization of BEST2 have gained attention as it is believed to share similar roles in ion homeostasis and signaling within retinal cells. Studies suggest that BEST2 may also be involved in maintaining the integrity of the retinal structure and function. Understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying BEST2's activity can shed light on its potential therapeutic roles and the pathophysiology of bestrophinopathies. Furthermore, exploring the interactions of BEST2 with other cellular components may reveal novel insights into retinal health and disease, offering opportunities for the development of targeted treatment strategies. Research in this area also highlights the significance of chloride channels in cellular physiology and the broader implications of ion transport in neural tissues, thereby contributing to a deeper understanding of both retinal function and disorders.
