  • Stability Test

The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

  • Storage & Shelf Life

Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

  • Shipping

In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description

The study of PLP (proteolipid protein), a major component of myelin in the central nervous system, has gained significant attention due to its critical role in myelination and maintenance of nerve function. PLP is the most abundant protein in the myelin sheath, which insulates nerve fibers, allowing for efficient signal transmission. Research into PLP has important implications for understanding demyelinating diseases, such as multiple sclerosis and Leukodystrophies, where myelin integrity is compromised. Investigating PLP and its associated pathways can uncover potential therapeutic targets for these conditions. Furthermore, PLP's involvement in the immune response and its expression in various cell types have made it a focal point in neurobiology and immunology. Advanced techniques, including recombinant protein expression and molecular modeling, have been employed to elucidate PLP's structure and function, providing insights into its role in myelin formation and its potential impact on neuronal health. Ongoing studies aim to explore PLP's interactions with other proteins and its influence on cellular signaling, which could lead to innovative strategies for the treatment of myelin-related disorders. The significance of PLP research extends beyond basic science; it opens avenues for biotechnological applications, including the development of biomaterials for neural repair and regenerative medicine. Thus, a comprehensive understanding of PLP and its mechanisms is essential for advancing our knowledge of neuronal health and developing effective therapies for demyelinating diseases.
