  • Stability Test

The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

  • Storage & Shelf Life

Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

  • Shipping

In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description

SORT1 (Sortilin 1) is a type I transmembrane protein primarily known for its role in intracellular sorting and trafficking of various proteins. It is implicated in several physiological and pathological processes, including neuronal development, lipid metabolism, and the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases. SORT1 has garnered significant attention due to its involvement in the secretion of neurotrophic factors and its association with cardiovascular diseases, particularly its role in the clearance of apolipoprotein E (ApoE) and its impact on cholesterol homeostasis. Recent studies have highlighted SORT1's potential as a therapeutic target for conditions such as Alzheimer's disease, where altered protein sorting mechanisms contribute to the accumulation of amyloid plaques. Additionally, the receptor's role in regulating the immune response and influencing cancer progression has emerged as a promising area of research. Understanding the structure and function of SORT1, along with the mechanisms by which it interacts with its ligands, is crucial for developing novel interventions. Research into SORT1 also involves the development of recombinant forms of the protein, facilitating the exploration of its binding characteristics and functional roles in vitro and in vivo. This multifaceted protein represents a significant focus in cellular and molecular biology, with implications for drug development and therapeutic strategies across a range of diseases.
