  • Stability Test

The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

  • Storage & Shelf Life

Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

  • Shipping

In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description

SPG7 (Spastic Paraplegia 7) is a gene associated with hereditary spastic paraplegia (HSP), a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by progressive weakness and stiffness of the legs. Mutations in the SPG7 gene lead to various clinical phenotypes, including with or without cognitive impairments and additional neurologic features, making it a critical target for understanding the underlying mechanisms of HSP. The SPG7 protein, also known as paraplegin, is a mitochondrial metalloprotease that plays a vital role in mitochondrial function and the maintenance of neuronal health. Research into the recombinant SPG7 protein focuses on elucidating its structure, function, and the molecular pathways involved in the disease process. By producing and characterizing recombinant SPG7 protein, scientists aim to gain insights into the enzymatic functions of paraplegin, its role in mitochondrial dynamics, and its interactions with other cellular components. This research has implications not only for the development of potential therapeutic strategies for HSP but also for understanding broader mitochondrial pathologies. Enhanced knowledge of recombinant SPG7 protein may lead to better diagnostic tools and treatment options for affected individuals, further underscoring its significance within the field of neurology and genetics.
