Stability Test
The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.
-
Storage & Shelf Life
Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Shipping
In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description
DHCR24, also known as 24-dehydrocholesterol reductase, plays a critical role in cholesterol biosynthesis by catalyzing the reduction of 24,25-epoxycholesterol to cholesterol. This enzyme is vital for maintaining cellular cholesterol levels and is implicated in various biological processes, including membrane fluidity and the synthesis of steroid hormones. Mutations in the DHCR24 gene have been associated with Smith-Lemli-Opitz syndrome (SLOS), a condition characterized by developmental delays, congenital anomalies, and intellectual disabilities. Research on DHCR24 recombinant proteins is essential to elucidate the enzyme's structure-function relationship, understand its regulatory mechanisms, and explore potential therapeutic targets for SLOS and related disorders. Recombinant DHCR24 proteins provide a platform for investigating the enzyme's activity, substrate specificity, and interaction with other metabolic pathways. Furthermore, such studies can help develop small-molecule inhibitors or activators that could modulate DHCR24 function, offering insights into cholesterol-related diseases and potential interventions to address metabolic dysregulation. As the biological significance of DHCR24 becomes clearer, ongoing research is expected to advance our understanding of cholesterol homeostasis and its broader implications in human health.
