Stability Test
The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.
-
Storage & Shelf Life
Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
-
Shipping
In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description
Collagen type VIII alpha 2 (COL8A2) is a key component of the extracellular matrix, primarily found in the corneal stroma and important for maintaining the structural integrity of the tissue. Research has increasingly focused on COL8A2 due to its involvement in various ocular diseases, particularly keratoconus and Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy, conditions that lead to loss of vision and corneal deformation. Mutations in the COL8A2 gene have been linked to these pathologies, underscoring its significance in corneal health. The recombinant protein form of COL8A2 allows for detailed studies into its biochemical properties, interactions with other extracellular matrix components, and the mechanisms by which its alterations contribute to disease. Furthermore, recombinant COL8A2 can serve as a potential therapeutic agent, aiding in the development of regenerative medicine approaches for corneal repair and replacement strategies. Understanding COL8A2 at the molecular level not only provides insight into its role in corneal integrity but also enhances the overall knowledge of corneal diseases, paving the way for innovative treatments and improved patient outcomes. Researchers are thus pursuing COL8A2 in various experimental models to elucidate its function, investigate its therapeutic potential, and explore its applications in tissue engineering and regenerative strategies for ocular health.
