  • Stability Test

The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

  • Storage & Shelf Life

Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

  • Shipping

In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description

The GRM8 gene encodes for a metabotropic glutamate receptor, which plays a crucial role in mediating synaptic transmission and plasticity in the central nervous system. Research on GRM8 has gained momentum due to its involvement in various neurological disorders, including anxiety, depression, and schizophrenia. As a G protein-coupled receptor, GRM8's activation leads to intracellular signaling cascades that influence neurotransmitter release and neuronal excitability. By studying the recombinant GRM8 protein, scientists aim to elucidate its structural and functional properties, which can provide insights into receptor pharmacology and the mechanism of action of potential therapeutic agents. Additionally, the availability of GRM8 in a recombinant form allows for high-throughput screening of ligands, which may lead to the identification of novel drugs targeting this receptor. Understanding GRM8 not only contributes to basic neuroscience but also has potential translational implications for the treatment of neuropsychiatric conditions. This research is pivotal as it may pave the way for developing more effective therapies with fewer side effects, addressing the significant unmet medical needs in mental health treatment.
