  • Stability Test

The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

  • Storage & Shelf Life

Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

  • Shipping

In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description

GPX4 (Glutathione Peroxidase 4) is a critical enzyme that plays a vital role in regulating redox homeostasis and lipid metabolism within cells. Unlike other members of the GPX family, GPX4 is unique in its ability to reduce hydroperoxides and protect cells from oxidative damage, particularly in maintaining the integrity of membrane lipids. Its activity is essential for cellular survival, particularly in preventing ferroptosis, a form of regulated cell death driven by lipid peroxidation. Research into the recombinant expression of GPX4 (specifically the U73C variant) has gained traction due to its potential therapeutic implications in various diseases, including cancer and neurodegenerative disorders. The recombinant protein serves as a valuable tool for understanding the molecular mechanisms underpinning its antioxidant functions and for evaluating its therapeutic efficacy in mitigating oxidative stress-related damage. By producing GPX4 in a recombinant system, researchers are able to obtain large quantities of the protein for biochemical studies and potential drug development, aiming to harness its protective effects against oxidative damage, with the ultimate goal of designing novel interventions for diseases characterized by oxidative stress and ferroptosis.
