  • Stability Test

The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

  • Storage & Shelf Life

Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

  • Shipping

In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description

Uncoupling protein 1 (UCP1) is a mitochondrial protein predominantly expressed in brown adipose tissue, playing a critical role in non-shivering thermogenesis, a process that generates heat by dissipating the proton gradient through the inner mitochondrial membrane. The interest in UCP1 has surged due to its potential implications in metabolic health, obesity, and energy expenditure. UCP1 facilitates the uncoupling of oxidative phosphorylation, which leads to increased energy expenditure rather than ATP production. This bioenergetics function not only contributes to thermoregulation in cold environments but also has potential applications in weight management and metabolic disorders such as type 2 diabetes. Research focused on the recombinant expression of UCP1 has enabled in-depth biochemical and biophysical studies to elucidate its mechanism of action, regulatory pathways, and interactions with other mitochondrial proteins. Through various expression systems, including bacterial and eukaryotic cells, scientists can produce UCP1 for functional assays, structural analyses, and drug discovery efforts aimed at modulating its activity. Additionally, understanding the molecular dynamics of UCP1 could lead to novel therapeutic approaches for obesity and metabolic syndrome, harnessing its capacity to promote energy expenditure and influence metabolic rates. The study of UCP1 in recombinant forms represents a promising frontier in exploring and exploiting this protein's thermogenic properties and its overarching influence on human metabolism.
