  • Stability Test

The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

  • Storage & Shelf Life

Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

  • Shipping

In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description

EAAT4 (excitatory amino acid transporter 4) is a member of the glutamate transporter family, predominantly expressed in the brain, particularly in the retina and certain regions of the central nervous system. This protein plays a crucial role in regulating extracellular levels of glutamate, an important neurotransmitter involved in excitatory signaling. Dysregulation of glutamate transporters, including EAAT4, has been implicated in various neurological disorders such as epilepsy, schizophrenia, and neurodegenerative diseases. The study of EAAT4 as a recombinant protein has gained traction due to its potential therapeutic implications. Researchers aim to better understand the structural and functional properties of EAAT4 to explore its role in glutamate homeostasis and neuroprotection. By producing and characterizing recombinant EAAT4, scientists can investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying its transport functions, ligand interactions, and the effects of specific mutations associated with disease. Furthermore, recombinant EAAT4 can be utilized as a tool for drug screening and the development of small molecules that can enhance or inhibit its activity, paving the way for novel therapeutic strategies targeting excitatory amino acid transport in pathological conditions. Through this research, we hope to unravel the complexities of neurotransmitter dynamics and contribute to the development of effective interventions for glutamate-related disorders.
