Analytical Data

  • Gene name

    Carbonic Anhydrase 2

  • 简介

Carbonic Anhydrase 2 (CA2) catalyzes the reversible hydration of carbon dioxide. Mutations in CA2 are linked to osteopetrosis and renal tubular acidosis. The gene exhibits biased expression in various tissues, notably in the stomach and colon. Two transcript variants, encoding different isoforms, have been identified. Carbonic Anhydrase 2 Protein, Human (HEK293, His) is the recombinant human-derived Carbonic Anhydrase 2 protein, expressed by HEK293 , with C-His labeled tag.

  • Stability Test

The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

  • Storage & Shelf Life

Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

  • Shipping

In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description

Carbonic anhydrase 2 (CA II) is a vital metalloenzyme found in various tissues, playing a crucial role in pH regulation and carbon dioxide transport by catalyzing the reversible conversion of carbon dioxide and water to bicarbonate and protons. This enzyme is particularly abundant in red blood cells and kidneys, where it aids in gas exchange and acid-base balance. Due to its significant physiological functions, CA II has been implicated in several clinical conditions, including glaucoma, osteoporosis, and certain types of cancer, making it a target for therapeutic interventions. The study of recombinant CA II has gained momentum, as it allows for the production of this protein in a controlled environment, facilitating structural and functional analyses. Furthermore, the generation of recombinant CA II enables the investigation of its enzymatic mechanisms and interactions with inhibitors, which is vital for drug development. Advances in protein engineering techniques have improved the yield and functionality of recombinant CA II, thus enhancing its applications in biosensing, biocatalysis, and as a potential diagnostic marker. This ongoing research into CA II not only deepens our understanding of enzymatic processes but also opens up new avenues for medical applications, emphasizing the importance of this enzyme in both basic and applied sciences.
