Stability Test
The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.
-
Storage & Shelf Life
Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
-
Shipping
In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description
FADS2 (Fatty Acid Desaturase 2) is an enzyme critical for the biosynthesis of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), particularly omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, which play vital roles in human health, including inflammation regulation, brain function, and cardiovascular health. Research on FADS2 has gained prominence due to its implications in various metabolic disorders and its potential as a therapeutic target. In particular, variations in the FADS2 gene have been linked to differences in fatty acid composition in tissues, influencing dietary needs and overall health outcomes. Given that PUFAs are essential for the maintenance of cellular function and development, understanding the function of FADS2 is crucial for nutritional science and medicine. Recent studies focus on the development of recombinant FADS2 proteins to explore their enzymatic activity, substrate specificity, and potential industrial applications, such as in the production of health-promoting oils. Moreover, characterizing FADS2 through recombinant expression can pave the way for metabolic engineering strategies aimed at enhancing PUFA production in various organisms, thereby addressing the growing demand for sustainable sources of these essential nutrients. As our understanding of FADS2 continues to expand, it highlights the enzyme's importance not only in basic biological research but also in applied sciences related to nutrition and fatty acid metabolism.
