  • Stability Test

The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

  • Storage & Shelf Life

Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

  • Shipping

In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description

GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) is a crucial neurotransmitter in the central nervous system, primarily functioning as the main inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain. Its role in neurotransmission and neural regulation makes it significant in the study of numerous neurological disorders, including anxiety, epilepsy, and depression. Researchers have increasingly focused on GABA receptors, particularly GABA_A receptors, which are ligand-gated ion channels that mediate the inhibitory effects of GABA. The understanding of GABA's signaling pathways has paved the way for the development of therapeutic agents targeting these receptors, leading to advancements in treating various neuropsychiatric conditions. In recent years, the use of recombinant protein technology has allowed for the production of GABA receptor subunits and their complexes, enabling detailed structural and functional studies. This approach enhances the ability to explore the pharmacological properties of GABA receptors and their interaction with various ligands, including drugs such as benzodiazepines and barbiturates. Additionally, investigating GABA receptor dynamics at a protein level may provide insights into receptor modulation, desensitization, and the effects of different pharmacological agents. The increasing availability of GABA receptor models through recombinant methods offers profound opportunities for drug design and development, making GABA receptor research a vital area in neuropharmacology and therapeutics.
