简介
IDI2 protein plays a crucial role in catalyzing the 1,3-allylic rearrangement of the homoallylic substrate isopentenyl (IPP), leading to the formation of its highly electrophilic allylic isomer, dimethylallyl diphosphate (DMAPP). This enzymatic activity is a key step in the biosynthetic pathway, contributing to the generation of essential building blocks for various cellular processes. IDI2 Protein, Human (C-His) is the recombinant human-derived IDI2 protein, expressed by E. coli , with C-8*His labeled tag.

Stability Test
The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.
-
Storage & Shelf Life
Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Shipping
In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description
IDI2 (Isoprenoid synthase domain-containing protein 2) is an essential enzyme involved in the mevalonate pathway, which plays a crucial role in the biosynthesis of isoprenoids, including cholesterol and various terpenoids. This pathway is pivotal for cellular processes such as membrane fluidity, protein prenylation, and the synthesis of hormones and vitamins. Given the importance of isoprenoids in both basic cellular functions and their implications in human health, researchers have focused on recombinant expression of IDI2 to better understand its structure, function, and potential as a therapeutic target. Studies have indicated that IDI2 has unique properties that differentiate it from its homologs, making it a subject of interest in metabolic engineering and drug design. Moreover, disorders related to the mevalonate pathway, such as Smith-Lemli-Opitz syndrome, highlight the necessity for a deeper understanding of IDI2's role and regulation. Recombinant protein technology allows scientists to produce IDI2 in a controlled manner, paving the way for detailed kinetic and structural analyses that could reveal novel insights into its enzymatic mechanisms and interactions. In summary, research on recombinant IDI2 is crucial for elucidating its biological functions and therapeutic potentials, providing a foundation for future studies aimed at manipulating isoprenoid biosynthesis for medical and biotechnological applications.
