简介
SORD Protein is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the SORD gene. SPRD is a polyol dehydrogenase that catalyzes the reversible NAD+-dependent oxidation of various sugar alcohols. SPRD is a key enzyme in the polyol pathway that interconverts glucose and fructose via sorbitol, which constitutes an important alternate route for glucose metabolism. SORD Protein, Human (HEK293, His) is the recombinant human-derived SORD protein, expressed by HEK293 , with C-6*His labeled tag.

Stability Test
The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.
-
Storage & Shelf Life
Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Shipping
In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description
SORD (sorbitol dehydrogenase) is an important enzyme involved in the polyol pathway, which converts glucose to sorbitol and subsequently to fructose, playing a significant role in glucose metabolism and osmotic regulation in cells. Dysregulation of SORD activity has been implicated in various pathological conditions, including diabetes-related complications, where excessive sorbitol accumulation leads to cellular stress and damage. The study of recombinant SORD protein has gained traction due to its potential therapeutic applications; by producing the enzyme in a recombinant system, researchers aim to better understand its structure-function relationship and enzymatic mechanism. Additionally, recombinant SORD can be utilized to develop novel diagnostic tools for metabolic disorders, as well as therapeutic agents that could alleviate conditions resulting from SORD dysfunction. Advances in protein engineering techniques allow for the modification and optimization of SORD, potentially enhancing its efficacy and stability. As the research community continues to explore the multifaceted roles of SORD in health and disease, recombinant SORD protein stands out as a promising candidate for future therapeutic strategies aimed at mitigating the adverse effects associated with abnormal glucose metabolism.
