Analytical Data

  • Gene name

    RBP3

  • 简介

RBP3 Protein, or interphotoreceptor retinoid-binding protein (IRBP), crucially facilitates the transport of retinoids between retinol isomerase and visual pigments in the retina. Its role is essential for maintaining the visual pathway's integrity, ensuring proper synthesis and regeneration of visual pigments crucial for vision. RBP3 Protein, Human (His) is the recombinant human-derived RBP3 protein, expressed by E. coli , with N-6*His labeled tag.

  • Stability Test

The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

  • Storage & Shelf Life

Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

  • Shipping

In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description

RBP3, also known as Retinal Binding Protein 3, is a crucial protein involved in the transport of retinoids, specifically retinol (vitamin A), within the retina. It plays a significant role in the visual cycle by facilitating the delivery of retinol to the retinal pigment epithelium and photoreceptor cells, which are essential for maintaining phototransduction and overall visual function. Mutations in the RBP3 gene have been associated with various retinal diseases, including retinitis pigmentosa and age-related macular degeneration, making it an important target for research. The recombinant expression of RBP3 allows for the study of its structural and functional properties, which can provide insights into its role in retinal health and disease. Additionally, characterizing the protein through recombinant techniques can aid in the development of potential therapeutic strategies aimed at addressing retinal degenerative conditions. Understanding the mechanisms underlying RBP3's function and interactions within the visual system could open avenues for innovative treatments and pave the way for gene therapy approaches targeting retinal disorders linked to RBP3 dysfunction. As such, the study of RBP3 recombinant protein is not only relevant for basic biological research but also holds promise for translational applications in ophthalmology and vision science.
