Analytical Data

  • Gene name

    SMYD3

  • 简介

SMYD3 Protein, a histone methyltransferase, specifically induces di- and tri-methylation of H3K4, avoiding monomethylation, and methylates H4K5. Crucial in transcriptional activation within an RNA polymerase complex, SMYD3 also exhibits DNA-binding affinity for sequences containing 5'-CCCTCC-3' or 5'-GAGGGG-3'. Histone-lysine N-methyltransferase SMYD3 (SMYD3) Protein, Human (His-Myc) is the recombinant human-derived Histone-lysine N-methyltransferase SMYD3(SMYD3) protein, expressed by E. coli , with N-10*His, C-Myc labeled tag. Histone-lysine N-methyltransferase SMYD3 (SMYD3) Protein, Human (His-Myc), has molecular weight of 56.5 kDa.

  • Stability Test

The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

  • Storage & Shelf Life

Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

  • Shipping

In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description

SMYD3 (SET and MYND domain containing 3) is a member of the SMYD family of proteins, recognized for its histone methyltransferase activity and its crucial role in epigenetic regulation. Its overexpression has been implicated in various cancers, including breast, prostate, and hepatocellular carcinoma, suggesting that SMYD3 plays a significant role in tumorigenesis through the modulation of gene expression. The protein specifically catalyzes the trimethylation of lysine 4 on histone H3 (H3K4me3), a hallmark of active promoters, thereby influencing transcriptional activation and altering cellular processes such as proliferation and differentiation. Investigating the biochemical properties of SMYD3 and developing recombinant protein variants are essential for elucidating its mechanistic functions. The production of SMYD3 as a recombinant protein allows researchers to study its structure-function relationships, explore its role in chromatin remodeling, and identify potential small-molecule inhibitors that could serve as therapeutic agents. Through these studies, there is an opportunity to better understand the pathological implications of SMYD3 in cancer and to potentially develop strategies for targeted therapies. Given its pivotal role in epigenetic regulation and cancer progression, SMYD3 continues to be a significant focus in the field of cancer research and therapeutic development.
