简介
SMAD5 (dwarfin C, JV5-1, MAD5) is a receptor activated Smad (R-Smad) belonging to the dwarfin/SMAD family. SMAD5 protein is activated by TGF-β receptor type I and binds to SMAD4 to form a trimer active form. SMAD5 is involved in BMP signaling pathway, regulates osteogenesis and is related to embryonic development. SMAD5 can up-regulate Runx2 expression and target osteocalcin and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) to function[1]. SMAD5 Protein, Mouse (sf9, His-GST) has 464 amino acids expressed by sf9 insect cells with N-terminal His- and GST-tag.

Stability Test
The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.
-
Storage & Shelf Life
Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Shipping
In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description
SMAD5 is a crucial protein involved in the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) signaling pathway, which plays a significant role in various cellular processes, including proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. As a member of the SMAD family of proteins, SMAD5 is specifically activated by bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) and is vital for transmitting extracellular signals into the nucleus to regulate target gene expression. Research has shown that dysregulation of SMAD5 can contribute to various diseases, including certain cancers, skeletal disorders, and developmental abnormalities. Due to its importance in signaling pathways and potential implications for therapeutic interventions, the study of recombinant SMAD5 proteins has gained significant attention. By producing and characterizing recombinant SMAD5, researchers aim to explore its functional mechanisms, interactions with other signaling molecules, and regulatory roles in cellular processes. These studies can enhance our understanding of TGF-β/BMP signaling and provide insights into developing novel strategies for treating SMAD5-related diseases, making it a critical area of investigation in molecular biology and biomedical research.
