  • Stability Test

The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

  • Storage & Shelf Life

Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

  • Shipping

In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description

Glycophorin C (GYP-C), a sialoglycoprotein encoded by the GYPC gene on chromosome 2, plays a crucial role in the structural integrity and stability of red blood cells. It is predominantly expressed on the erythrocyte surface, where it functions as a key component of the membrane skeleton, helping to maintain cell shape and flexibility. Furthermore, GYPC contributes to the immunological properties of red blood cells, as it is involved in mediating interactions with the immune system. Research into GYP-C has garnered attention due to its relevance in various hematological conditions and blood group antigens, including its role in Rh null phenotypes and its connections to certain types of hemolytic diseases. Recombinant GYP-C proteins are of significant interest for therapeutic applications, including their potential use in transfusion medicine and for understanding membrane biology in erythropoiesis. Studying the recombinant forms allows for elucidation of GYP-C's functional properties and interactions at the molecular level. Furthermore, as a model for membrane proteins, GYP-C serves as a valuable tool for investigating membrane dynamics and anomalies associated with erythrocyte disorders. Overall, the research into recombinant GYP-C is vital for advancing our understanding of its physiological functions and its implications in health and disease.
