  • Stability Test

The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

  • Storage & Shelf Life

Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

  • Shipping

In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description

Low-density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR) is a pivotal protein involved in lipoprotein metabolism and cholesterol homeostasis. Its primary function is to mediate the endocytosis of LDL particles, thus regulating circulating cholesterol levels in the bloodstream. Dysregulation of LDLR expression or function is linked to hypercholesterolemia, a major risk factor for cardiovascular diseases such as atherosclerosis and coronary artery disease. Research on LDLR has gained prominence due to its implications in genetic disorders like familial hypercholesterolemia, where mutations in the LDLR gene lead to significantly elevated cholesterol levels and increased cardiovascular risk. The recombinant expression of LDLR in different systems, such as mammalian cells or yeast, has facilitated studies on its structure, function, and interaction with ligands. Understanding the molecular mechanisms governing LDLR activity and its regulatory pathways may offer insights into therapeutic strategies for managing cholesterol levels and preventing cardiovascular diseases. Furthermore, LDLR serves as a model for studying receptor-mediated endocytosis and the biology of lipoproteins, thereby providing essential information for developing novel treatments targeting lipid metabolism disorders.
