  • Stability Test

The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

  • Storage & Shelf Life

Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

  • Shipping

In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description

PFKFB3, or 6-phosphofructo-2-kinase/fructose-2,6-bisphosphatase 3, is a critical enzyme that plays a pivotal role in the regulation of glucose metabolism, particularly in controlling the levels of fructose 2,6-bisphosphate, a potent allosteric activator of phosphofructokinase-1 (PFK-1). This enzyme is central to the glycolytic pathway, influencing cancer cell metabolism and survival, particularly in the context of the Warburg effect, where cancer cells preferentially utilize glycolysis for energy production even in the presence of oxygen. Recent studies have highlighted the significance of PFKFB3 in various pathological conditions, including type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and different types of cancers, making it a promising target for therapeutic intervention. The recombinant expression of PFKFB3 facilitates the study of its enzymatic activity and regulatory mechanisms, providing insights into its function and potential as a biomarker for disease progression. Furthermore, developing specific inhibitors or modulators of PFKFB3 could lead to novel strategies for targeting metabolic dysregulation in cancer and other diseases. Understanding the structure and function of PFKFB3 through recombinant protein studies is therefore essential for elucidating its role in cellular metabolism and its potential as a therapeutic target.
