  • Stability Test

The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

  • Storage & Shelf Life

Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

  • Shipping

In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description

Interleukin-18 (IL-18), also known as Interleukin-1 family member 4 (IL-1F4), is a critical pro-inflammatory cytokine involved in the immune response. Initially discovered for its ability to enhance the production of interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) from T cells and natural killer (NK) cells, IL-18 plays a pivotal role in promoting Th1-type immune responses. Its dysregulation has been implicated in various autoimmune diseases, chronic inflammatory conditions, and even cancer, making it a compelling target for therapeutic intervention. The recombinant protein form of IL-18/IL-1F4 allows researchers to study its biological functions and signaling pathways in vitro and in vivo. By producing this cytokine in a recombinant system, scientists can explore its role in immune cell activation, inflammation, and the interplay with other cytokines in the immune network. Furthermore, understanding the mechanisms by which IL-18 contributes to disease pathogenesis can lead to novel treatment strategies, potentially blocking or modulating its pathways for therapeutic purposes. The ongoing research into IL-18/IL-1F4 recombinant proteins continues to offer valuable insights into immune regulation and may pave the way for innovative therapies targeting inflammatory disorders and malignancies. As the field progresses, the unique properties and actions of this cytokine will likely yield new approaches to manage diseases characterized by excessive inflammation and immune dysregulation.
