Analytical Data

  • Gene name

    SLC7A11

  • 简介

The SLC7A11 protein forms a heterodimer with SLC3A2 and acts as an antiporter to exchange extracellular L-cystine for intracellular L-glutamate across the plasma membrane. This sodium-independent electroneutral transport, with a 1:1 stoichiometry, relies on high intracellular levels of L-glutamate and intracellular reduction of L-cystine. SLC7A11 Protein, Human (Cell-Free, His) is the recombinant human-derived SLC7A11 protein, expressed by E. coli Cell-free , with N-10*His labeled tag.

  • Stability Test

The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

  • Storage & Shelf Life

Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

  • Shipping

In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description

SLC7A11, also known as System X- or cystine/glutamate antiporter, is a crucial membrane protein involved in the transport of cystine and glutamate across the cell membrane, playing a significant role in maintaining cellular redox balance and neurotransmitter homeostasis. Research on SLC7A11 has gained momentum in recent years due to its implications in various pathological conditions, including neurodegenerative diseases, cancer, and disorders related to oxidative stress. Its function in cystine transport is particularly important, as cystine is a vital precursor for the synthesis of glutathione, a key antioxidant that protects cells from oxidative damage. Furthermore, dysregulation of SLC7A11 has been linked to increased vulnerability to oxidative stress and cell death, making it a potential therapeutic target for diseases characterized by oxidative damage. Recombinant SLC7A11 protein studies provide insights into its structure, function, and regulatory mechanisms, facilitating the development of novel therapeutic strategies. The ability to produce and study this protein in vitro allows researchers to explore its transport properties and interactions with various ligands or inhibitors, contributing to a better understanding of its role in cellular processes and disease pathology. Overall, the research on SLC7A11 recombinant protein is crucial for elucidating its biological functions and therapeutic potential, highlighting its importance in both basic and translational research.
