Analytical Data

  • Gene name

    OV16

  • 简介

The OV16 protein is a phosphatidylethanolamine-binding protein found in the subcutaneous tissue, stratum corneum, and uterus and has been shown to be involved in multiple physiological functions, possibly related to structural integrity and reproduction. It belongs to the phosphatidylethanolamine-binding protein family, suggesting a role in lipid processes or signaling. OV16 Protein, Onchocerca volvulus (HEK293, GST) is the recombinant OV16 protein, expressed by HEK293 , with N-GST labeled tag.

  • Stability Test

The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

  • Storage & Shelf Life

Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

  • Shipping

In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description

OV16, a recombinant protein derived from the Oncocera virus, has garnered attention in recent years for its potential applications in immunotherapy and cancer treatment. Research has shown that OV16 possesses unique properties that enable it to selectively target and kill cancer cells while sparing normal cells. This selectivity is largely attributed to its ability to exploit specific cellular pathways that are overactive in tumor cells. As cancer remains one of the leading causes of mortality worldwide, the quest for effective treatments is crucial. Traditional therapies, such as chemotherapy and radiation, often come with significant side effects and can lead to resistance, necessitating the development of innovative approaches like OV16. Preliminary studies indicate that OV16 can enhance immune responses against tumors, making it a promising candidate for combination therapies with existing modalities. Moreover, as researchers continue to elucidate the mechanisms underlying OV16's interactions with the immune system and tumor microenvironment, the potential for this recombinant protein to contribute to personalized medicine strategies is becoming increasingly evident. In summary, the ongoing research into OV16 not only highlights the importance of novel therapeutic agents in oncology but also reflects a growing understanding of how targeted treatments can improve patient outcomes and quality of life.
