简介
The SMYD2 protein is a multifunctional methyltransferase that can modify histones and non-histone proteins, including p53/TP53 and RB1. Notably, it trimethylates H3 at "Lys-4" (H3K4me3), which is critical for gene activation. SMYD2 Protein, Human (sf9, His) is the recombinant human-derived SMYD2 protein, expressed by Sf9 insect cells , with N-His labeled tag.

Stability Test
The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.
-
Storage & Shelf Life
Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Shipping
In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description
SMYD2 (SET and MYND domain containing 2) is a histone methyltransferase that plays a crucial role in various biological processes, including gene regulation, cellular differentiation, and oncogenesis. Emerging evidence suggests that SMYD2 is implicated in the development of several cancers, as it can modify histones and non-histone proteins, thereby influencing chromatin structure and gene expression. The identification of SMYD2 as a potential therapeutic target has sparked interest in studying its biological functions and the molecular mechanisms regulating its activity. Researchers have undertaken efforts to produce recombinant SMYD2 proteins to investigate its enzymatic properties, substrate specificity, and interaction with various cofactors. By utilizing techniques such as DNA cloning, expression in suitable systems (like bacterial or eukaryotic cells), and purification methods, scientists aim to obtain functional SMYD2 proteins for biochemical assays and structural studies. Understanding the precise mechanisms of SMYD2 action could lead to novel strategies for cancer treatment, including the development of specific inhibitors that can modulate its activity. Thus, the study of recombinant SMYD2 proteins not only furthers our comprehension of epigenetic regulation but also has significant implications in the field of targeted cancer therapies.
