Analytical Data

  • Gene name

    TMEM173

  • 简介

The TMEM173 protein acts as a promoter of innate immune signaling, acting as a sensor of bacterial and viral cytoplasmic DNA, ultimately promoting the production of type I interferons (IFN-α and IFN-β). This innate immune response is triggered in response to the delivery of non-CpG double-stranded DNA from viruses and bacteria into the cytoplasm. TMEM173 Protein, Human (N-His-Sumo) is the recombinant human-derived TMEM173 protein, expressed by E. coli , with N-6*His, N-SUMO labeled tag.

  • Stability Test

The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

  • Storage & Shelf Life

Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

  • Shipping

In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description

TMEM173, also known as STING (Stimulator of Interferon Genes), is a critical component of the innate immune response, playing a pivotal role in the detection of cytosolic DNA from both endogenous and exogenous sources. Research on TMEM173 has gained significant importance due to its involvement in activating the STING pathway, which subsequently leads to the production of type I interferons and other cytokines, essential for mounting an effective immune response against infections and tumors. Dysregulation of this pathway has been linked to various diseases, including autoimmune disorders and cancers, highlighting its potential as a therapeutic target. The study of recombinant TMEM173 protein offers an avenue to better understand its structure-function relationships, mechanisms of action, and interactions with other cellular components. As scientists continue to explore the role of TMEM173 in immunotherapy and vaccine development, the generation of high-purity, functional TMEM173 protein through recombinant techniques is vital for elucidating its mechanisms and identifying new therapeutic strategies. This protein serves as a key tool for both basic research and clinical applications, paving the way for advancements in immunotherapy and precision medicine.
