Analytical Data

  • Gene name

    Leukocidin-F subunit/LukF

  • 简介

Leukocidin-F subunit/LukF protein induces cytotoxic changes in polymorphonuclear leukocytes, while gamma-hemolysin, with components H-gamma-I and H-gamma-II identical to F, causes hemolysis in red blood cells. These proteins collectively contribute to pathogenic mechanisms by exerting cytotoxic effects on immune cells and inducing hemolysis in red blood cells. Leukocidin-F subunit/LukF Protein, S. aureus (Myc, His-SUMO) is the recombinant Staphylococcus aureus-derived Leukocidin-F subunit/LukF protein, expressed by E. coli , with N-His, C-Myc, N-SUMO labeled tag.

  • Stability Test

The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

  • Storage & Shelf Life

Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

  • Shipping

In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description

Leukocidin-F, also known as LukF, is a virulence factor produced by certain strains of Staphylococcus aureus, which is known for its ability to form pores in the membranes of host immune cells, particularly neutrophils. This immunomodulatory action allows the bacteria to evade the host's immune response, contributing to the severity of infections. Researchers have been increasingly interested in LukF as a potential target for therapeutic intervention, given its role in staphylococcal pathogenesis. Recombinant LukF proteins have been developed to better understand the mechanism of leukocidin-mediated cytotoxicity and to explore their potential for vaccine development or as biological therapeutics. By studying the structure and function of LukF, scientists aim to identify critical regions involved in its interaction with immune cells and to design inhibitors that can block its action, thereby enhancing the host's immune response against Staphylococcus aureus infections. The development of LukF-based strategies could significantly improve the management of infections caused by antibiotic-resistant strains of this pathogen, making it a promising area of research in infectious disease and immunology.
