  • Stability Test

The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

  • Storage & Shelf Life

Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

  • Shipping

In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description

HK1 (Hexokinase-1) is a pivotal enzyme in the glycolytic pathway, catalyzing the phosphorylation of glucose to glucose-6-phosphate, which is a crucial first step in glucose metabolism. This enzyme plays an essential role in energy production and is involved in various biological processes, including cell proliferation, apoptosis, and the maintenance of cellular homeostasis. Abnormal expression or activity of HK1 has been linked to several diseases, particularly cancer, where tumor cells often exhibit elevated glycolytic activity, a phenomenon known as the Warburg effect. The overexpression of HK1 in cancer cells facilitates their enhanced growth and survival in hypoxic conditions. Consequently, HK1 has emerged as a potential therapeutic target for cancer treatment, prompting extensive research into its structure, function, and interaction with inhibitors. The development of recombinant HK1 proteins has become essential for detailed studies on enzyme kinetics, inhibitor screening, and the exploration of its regulatory mechanisms. By producing HK1 in recombinant systems, researchers can obtain pure and functional enzyme for in vitro studies, enabling a better understanding of its role in metabolic pathways and its implications in disease. Understanding the molecular details of HK1 through recombinant technology can pave the way for novel therapeutic strategies aimed at inhibiting its activity in pathological conditions, particularly in cancer metabolism, thus providing a foundation for the development of targeted treatments.
