Gene name
Klotho

简介
Klotho Protein exhibits weak glycosidase activity against glucuronidated steroids and is inactive in vivo due to the lack of essential active site Glu residues. It regulates calcium and phosphorus homeostasis by inhibiting the synthesis of active vitamin D. Klotho Protein, Human (CHO, His) is the recombinant human-derived Klotho protein, expressed by CHO , with C-10*His labeled tag.

Stability Test
The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.
-
Storage & Shelf Life
Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Shipping
In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description
Klotho is an aging-related gene that plays a crucial role in various physiological processes, including mineral homeostasis and cognitive function. Discovered in the late 1990s, Klotho is primarily expressed in the kidneys and is known for its anti-aging properties, as its absence leads to premature aging and several age-related diseases, such as osteoporosis and cardiovascular disorders. The Klotho protein acts as a co-receptor for fibroblast growth factor (FGF) 23, regulating phosphate metabolism and vitamin D synthesis. Research has increasingly focused on the potential therapeutic applications of recombinant Klotho protein, particularly in combating age-associated diseases and promoting longevity. Studies suggest that restoring Klotho levels in animal models can improve healthspan and mitigate the effects of aging, leading to investigations into gene therapy and recombinant protein administration in humans. Moreover, Klotho's anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective effects have spurred interest in its role in neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s. Thus, the study of recombinant Klotho protein not only deepens our understanding of aging mechanisms but also opens up new avenues for innovative treatments aimed at enhancing quality of life in the aging population.
