Analytical Data

  • Gene name

    CNTFR alpha

  • 简介

CNTFR alpha protein is critical in protein folding, binding to cytosolic chaperone protein (c-CPN) and promoting the translocation of target proteins. It helps nascent polypeptide chains fold in different pathways. CNTFR alpha Protein, Human (sf9, His) is the recombinant human-derived CNTFR alpha protein, expressed by Sf9 insect cells , with C-His labeled tag.

  • Stability Test

The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

  • Storage & Shelf Life

Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

  • Shipping

In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description

CNTFR-alpha (ciliary neurotrophic factor receptor alpha) is a critical component of the signaling pathway for ciliary neurotrophic factor (CNTF), a neurotrophic cytokine that plays a fundamental role in neuron survival, differentiation, and repair. Research on CNTFR-alpha has gained significant attention within the fields of neurobiology and regenerative medicine due to its implications in neurodegenerative diseases and peripheral nerve injuries. The receptor is part of a heterotrimeric complex that includes the common gp130 receptor subunit, which mediates the intracellular signaling cascades essential for cellular responses to CNTF. Studies have shown that CNTFR-alpha is not only crucial for maintaining the health of motor neurons but also influences the activity of glial cells and other support tissues in the nervous system. Given its potential therapeutic applications, the recombinant production of CNTFR-alpha has become a focus of research, enabling scientists to explore its mechanisms and validate its role in neuroprotection and neuronal regeneration. Understanding the structure, function, and signaling pathways of CNTFR-alpha may lead to the development of novel therapeutic strategies targeting various neurological disorders, enhancing the outcomes of treatments for conditions such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), multiple sclerosis (MS), and peripheral neuropathies. The functional characterization of CNTFR-alpha, alongside advancements in recombinant protein technologies, provides a pathway for innovative therapies that harness the neuroprotective properties of CNTF, ultimately contributing to improved neurological health and quality of life for affected patients.
