简介
The hERG protein is the α subunit of voltage-gated potassium channels and is critical for mediating cardiac delayed rectifier potassium current (IKr). It lacks individual channel activity but dynamically affects properties by forming heterotetramers with other isoforms. hERG Protein, Human (HEK293, GFP, His) is the recombinant human-derived hERG protein, expressed by HEK293 , with C-10*His, C-GFP labeled tag.

Stability Test
The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.
-
Storage & Shelf Life
Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Shipping
In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description
The human Ether-a-go-go Related Gene (hERG) encodes a voltage-gated potassium channel, I_Kr, which plays a crucial role in cardiac repolarization. Dysregulation of hERG is linked to various cardiovascular diseases, including Long QT syndrome, which can lead to life-threatening arrhythmias. Given its significance in pharmacology, hERG has become a pivotal target in drug development, as many pharmaceutical compounds have been identified to either block or affect hERG function, leading to potential cardiac toxicity. The study of hERG recombinant protein is essential to understanding its biophysical properties, regulatory mechanisms, and interactions with drugs. Recombinant hERG proteins allow for controlled experimental conditions, facilitating detailed investigations into the structure-function relationship of the channel, screening for drug interactions, and elucidating the molecular basis of channelopathies. This area of research is critical not only for improving drug safety profiles but also for designing novel therapeutic agents that selectively modulate hERG activity to mitigate adverse cardiac effects. As the demand for precision medicine increases, understanding hERG's detailed mechanisms through recombinant protein studies is imperative for advancing cardiovascular therapeutics and ensuring patient safety in drug therapies.
