Analytical Data

  • Gene name

    GCAP1

  • 简介

The GCAP1 protein is a key regulator in the visual system, regulating retinal guanylyl cyclase activity in response to intracellular calcium concentration. Under low calcium conditions, GCAP1 stimulates retinal guanylyl cyclase to return rod photoreceptors to the dark state. GCAP1 Protein, Human (sf9) is the recombinant human-derived GCAP1 protein, expressed by Sf9 insect cells, with tag free.

Reconstitute in ddH2O to a concentration of 0.1-0.5 mg/mL. Do not vortex.

  • Customization

Site-directed mutagenesis Custom tag design Custom buffer formulation Custom full-length protein production

  • Stability Test

The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

  • Storage & Shelf Life

Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

  • Shipping

In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description

GCAP1 (Guanylate Cyclase Activating Protein 1) is a crucial protein involved in the regulation of phototransduction in retinal photoreceptor cells. It functions as a calcium sensor that activates guanylate cyclase, ultimately leading to the regeneration of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) and restoration of the photoreceptor's resting state after exposure to light. Mutations in the GCAP1 gene have been linked to various forms of retinal degeneration, such as cone-rod dystrophy and retinitis pigmentosa, highlighting its significance in maintaining retinal health and vision. Research on recombinant GCAP1 protein aims to elucidate its structural and functional characteristics, which can provide insights into the mechanisms of retinal signaling and the pathophysiology of related disorders. By producing and studying recombinant GCAP1, scientists can investigate its interactions with other proteins and elucidate the effects of specific mutations. This research could lead to potential therapeutic strategies for retinal diseases, including gene therapy and pharmacological interventions targeting phototransduction pathways. Understanding GCAP1 function and its role in the retina is essential for developing innovative treatments to combat vision loss and improve patient outcomes in retinal degenerative disorders.
