  • Gene name

    CD21

  • 简介

CD21 Protein, a receptor for complement C3, Epstein-Barr virus, and HNRNPU, activates B lymphocytes and aids Epstein-Barr virus entry in microbial infection. Its engagement with these ligands highlights its vital role in immune responses and interactions, regulating B-cell activation and host defense against infections. CD21 Protein, Human (HEK293, His) is the recombinant human-derived CD21 protein, expressed by HEK293 , with C-His, C-10*His labeled tag.

  • Stability Test

The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

  • Storage & Shelf Life

Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

  • Shipping

In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description

CD21, also known as complement receptor 2 (CR2), is a receptor primarily expressed on the surface of B cells and certain other immune cells. It plays a crucial role in the adaptive immune response by facilitating B cell activation, proliferation, and differentiation upon binding to its ligands, which include complement components and the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). As a key player in the humoral immune response, CD21 is involved in the regulation of B cell responses to antigens, influencing both the quantity and quality of antibody production. The study of CD21 and its recombinant protein forms has gained significant attention due to its potential therapeutic applications, particularly in vaccine development and autoimmune disease treatment. Recombinant CD21 proteins can serve as valuable tools for investigating immune signaling pathways, understanding B cell development, and exploring the molecular mechanisms of EBV-related pathologies. Additionally, research on CD21 could lead to innovative strategies for enhancing vaccine efficacy by improving antigen presentation and B cell activation. The recombinant versions of CD21 may also be used in diagnostic assays or as biologics to modulate immune responses, offering promising avenues for clinical applications in immunotherapy and infectious disease. Overall, investigations into CD21 recombinant proteins are pivotal for advancing our understanding of immune regulation and developing targeted interventions for various immunological disorders.
