简介
Myeloid differentiation factor-2 (MD2) (LY96 gene) is a small glycoprotein expressed by macrophages and dendritic cells. MD2 functions as a co-receptor for toll-like receptor (TLR) 4 and is required for its activation. Recognition of LPS by TLR4 requires MD-2 since most of the lipid chains of LPS interact with a hydrophobic pocket in MD-2. MD2 confers invasiveness by activating MAPK and NF-kB signaling pathways and inducing epithelial-mesenchymal transition[1][2]. MD-2/LY96 Protein, Human (His) is the recombinant human-derived MD-2/LY96 protein, expressed by E. coli , with C-10*His labeled tag.

Stability Test
The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.
-
Storage & Shelf Life
Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Shipping
In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description
MD-2, also known as LY96, is a key co-receptor that plays a crucial role in the immune response by modulating Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4)-mediated signaling pathways. TLR4 is essential for detecting lipopolysaccharides (LPS) from gram-negative bacteria, leading to the activation of innate immunity and the subsequent inflammatory response. Research has shown that MD-2 interacts with TLR4 to facilitate LPS binding and receptor dimerization, which is critical for the activation of downstream signaling cascades including NF-κB and MAPK pathways. Given its pivotal role in inflammation and sepsis, MD-2 has attracted significant attention as a potential therapeutic target for various inflammatory and infectious diseases. Understanding the structural and functional aspects of MD-2/LY96 can enhance our knowledge of immune regulation and lead to the development of novel immunomodulatory strategies. Recombinant MD-2 protein studies are particularly important for elucidating its interactions with TLR4 and LPS, allowing researchers to explore its therapeutic potential by either inhibiting or enhancing its function. Overall, the ongoing research on MD-2/LY96 recombinant protein is critical for advancing therapeutic approaches in the management of sepsis, autoimmune diseases, and other inflammatory conditions, highlighting its significance in both basic and clinical immunology.
