简介
LSS protein, a pivotal enzyme in cholesterol biosynthesis, catalyzes the cyclization of (S)-2,3 oxidosqualene into lanosterol, a crucial step in sterol nucleus formation. Beyond cholesterol biosynthesis, LSS may regulate lens protein aggregation, maintaining lens transparency. LSS's enzymatic action impacts fundamental and specialized cellular processes, underscoring its significance in diverse physiological contexts. Lanosterol synthase/LSS Protein, Human (P.pastoris, His) is the recombinant human-derived Lanosterol synthase/LSS protein, expressed by P. pastoris , with N-His labeled tag.

Stability Test
The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.
-
Storage & Shelf Life
Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Shipping
In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description
Lanosterol synthase (LSS) is a crucial enzyme in the cholesterol biosynthetic pathway, catalyzing the transformation of squalene into lanosterol, the first cyclic sterol precursor in this metabolic route. The study of LSS is significant due to its role in cellular processes, such as membrane fluidity and signaling, as well as its implications in various diseases, including cholesterol-related disorders and certain types of cancer. Researchers have focused on the recombinant expression of LSS to better understand its structure, function, and regulatory mechanisms. By producing LSS in a heterologous system, scientists aim to obtain sufficient quantities of the protein for functional assays and structural studies, which can reveal insights into its catalytic mechanism and how it interacts with substrates and inhibitors. Additionally, investigating the recombinant protein can help in the development of potential therapeutic agents to modulate cholesterol synthesis. Understanding LSS could ultimately contribute to new strategies for combating diseases linked to aberrant cholesterol metabolism, thus highlighting its importance in both basic and applied biomedical research.
