    The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

Protein Description

CDK5 (Cyclin-Dependent Kinase 5) is a kinase that plays a critical role in neuronal development and function. Unlike other cyclin-dependent kinases, CDK5 is uniquely activated by its regulatory subunits, p35 and p25. The p25 fragment is derived from the cleavage of p35 by proteolytic enzymes, particularly during neuronal stress, and its accumulation is associated with various neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer's disease. In contrast to p35, the p25 form of CDK5 leads to aberrant kinase activity, which has been implicated in the hyperphosphorylation of tau protein—a hallmark of neurodegenerative processes. Research involving the recombinant expression of CDK5-p25 fusion proteins allows for the detailed study of its enzymatic properties, substrate interactions, and downstream signaling pathways. Moreover, understanding the structural and functional distinctions between CDK5 complexes formed with p35 and p25 could provide insights into therapeutic targets for the prevention and treatment of tauopathies and dementia. Given the increasing prevalence of neurodegenerative disorders worldwide, elucidating the regulation of CDK5-p25 is a significant area of research, with potential implications for developing interventions aimed at restoring normal kinase function in affected neuronal populations.
