简介
PMVK proteins play a key role in cellular metabolism by catalyzing the reversible ATP-dependent phosphorylation of mevalonate 5-phosphate, leading to the production of mevalonate diphosphate and ADP. This enzymatic activity represents a key step in the mevalonate-mediated biosynthesis of isopentenyl diphosphate, a precursor for the synthesis of various polyisoprene metabolites. PMVK Protein, Human (His) is the recombinant human-derived PMVK protein, expressed by E. coli , with N-6*His labeled tag.

Stability Test
The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.
-
Storage & Shelf Life
Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Shipping
In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description
The PMVK protein, or phosphomevalonate kinase, plays a crucial role in the mevalonate pathway, a fundamental metabolic route that is essential for the biosynthesis of isoprenoids, sterols, and other biologically significant compounds. This enzyme catalyzes the phosphorylation of mevalonate-5-phosphate to mevalonate-5-diphosphate, facilitating the production of key intermediates required for cholesterol synthesis and coenzyme Q10 production, among others. Given its central role in cellular metabolism and its implications in various diseases, including cardiovascular disorders and certain cancers, PMVK has gained interest in biochemical and pharmaceutical research. Studies have demonstrated that dysregulation of the mevalonate pathway can lead to metabolic disorders, making PMVK a potential target for therapeutic intervention. Furthermore, understanding the structural and functional aspects of PMVK can provide insights into developing inhibitors or modulators that could regulate its activity. Recent research has focused on characterizing PMVK, elucidating its enzymatic mechanisms, and exploring its interactions with other metabolic pathways. These investigations are not only vital for foundational biochemical knowledge but also for the development of innovative strategies to combat diseases linked to mevalonate pathway dysregulation. As such, PMVK stands out as a promising subject for molecular biology studies aimed at understanding metabolic regulation and designing novel therapeutic agents.
