  • Stability Test

The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

  • Storage & Shelf Life

Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

  • Shipping

In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description

The 5HT2A receptor, a subtype of the serotonin receptor family, plays a crucial role in the modulation of various brain functions, including mood, perception, and cognition. It is primarily linked to the pathological mechanisms of several psychiatric disorders, such as depression, schizophrenia, and anxiety. Research on the 5HT2A receptor has gained significant attention due to its implications in understanding the pharmacology of antidepressants and antipsychotic drugs. The receptor is a G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR), which makes it a key target for drug discovery, as GPCRs are involved in many cellular signaling pathways. The recombinant expression of the 5HT2A receptor provides an opportunity to study its structure, function, and interactions in a controlled environment, facilitating the identification of novel therapeutics targeting this receptor. Recent advancements in molecular cloning and protein expression techniques have enabled researchers to generate large quantities of functional 5HT2A proteins, which are essential for biophysical studies, ligand-binding assays, and structural elucidation through techniques such as X-ray crystallography and cryo-electron microscopy. Understanding the biophysical properties and signaling mechanisms of the 5HT2A receptor is vital for the development of better pharmacological agents aimed at treating mood disorders and other related conditions.
